About Shipping
BookHut uses UPS ground for all sizes of barrister bookcases.

Much has changed in the shipping department since we first started BookHut ten years ago. For the most part, the price of fuel has gone way up and UPS went public (neither one of which is good for us folks). Reluctantly we now abandon our flat rate modular shipping price in effect since 1997 and as of April 2007, the following flat rate tables apply. This is for a 3 section, modular barrister bookcase in the standard depth 300 and 800 series which is packed and shipped in four cases (crown and base are combined in one case). Deep modular sections in the 300 series (i.e. 31115’s) and the 800 series (i.e. 813-12’s) are subject to an oversize surcharge of $10.00 per carton. In those instances where the total shipment of modular components exceeds 10 cartons, we will provide you with a specific quotation for you via LTL truck rate or UPS Ground.

Zone 1 : CT, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT
Flat rate of $80.00 for the first four cartons in a shipment. $20.00 for each additional carton.

Zone 2 : GA, ME, MD, NC, OH, SC, VA, DC, WV
Flat rate of $100.00 for the first four cartons in a shipment. $25.00 for each additional carton.

Zone 3 : AR, CO, FL, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NM, ND, OK, SD, TN, TX, WI
Flat rate of $120 for the first four cartons in a shipment. $30.00 for each additional carton.

Zone 4 : AZ, CA, ID, MT, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY
Flat rate of $150 for the first four cartons in a shipment. $35.00 for each additional carton.

Large file cabinets i.e. 3420’s can be shipped via UPS Ground but at an oversize premium rate which we will look-up and quote for you. All other series of bookcases are shipped by truck. Hale’s truck rates are significantly discounted from the "rack rates" due to the very high volume being shipped annually and include all applicable surcharges. These extra’s pay for the advance telephone call to ensure that someone can be home to receive the shipment, the residential surcharge and bringing the bookcases into your home i.e. over the threshold.

Please don’t be misled by some of our competitors who offer so-called "free shipping" which is only free if you live in a house with a loading dock instead of a garage. As well, each individual unit carries a "hidden" cost of shipping and if you are going to buy more than one unit you’ll likely find the BookHut way works to your advantage. In some cases, the hidden cost is extremely well hidden. We will always notify you of the exact cost and nature of the shipping service you are getting before placing your order and guarantee that price no matter what happens to freight rates or fuel surcharges in the interim.

There is also turnkey or white glove service, available in most major markets. From experience we know that this can be 50% or more higher than the best residential freight quote but some times it’s worth it. i.e. if you want 10 or 15 #284’s delivered to your new second floor book eyrie. In these cases, they will not only carry the bookcases up the stairs, they will also unpack them for you, position them where you want them and then remove the packing material. It’s a big job, but, hey, someone can do it.

We will ship anywhere in the world. Please feel free to call me at (702) 285-4437 anytime to discuss your specific freight situation. Having shipped bookcases to 47 of 50 states (including Alaska) as well as Canada and Germany, we’re confident we can provide reliable, cost-effective delivery for your glass and/or bookcases.
